SHREK opens in Rio de Janeiro starring Diego Luri, chosen from among hundreds of actors to be in Brazil, the world's most famous ogre. Along with Diego are names like Sara Sarres (Christine in The Phantom of the Opera, Cosette in Les Miserables, Jellyrolum in Cats, Anita in West Side Story and recently, Morticia in Addams Family, among many other productions), Rodrigo Sant'Anna (currently the most popular star of Brazilian television), Marcel Octavio (7- o musical  e Hair ) as well as veteran  actors of musical theatre, like Mauro Gorini (Jeckyl and Hyde, Company), Fabricio Negri, Giulia Nadruz, Conrado Helt and many others.

SHREK is directed by Diego Ramiro ( Jeckyll and Hyde). Lyrics translated by Claudio Botelho and  book by Cristina Bério and Fernanda Fernandes.  Musical direction: Marcelo Castro, sets by Paula de Paoli, costumes by Luciano Ferrari, lighting design by Guilherme Bonfati and sound design by Fernando Fortes. 

The cast includes Diego Luri, Sara Sarres, Rodrigo Sant'Annna, Marcel Octavio,  Mauro Gorini, Renan Mattos, Giulia Nadruz, Alice Motta, Analu Pimenta, Tatiana Sobral, Elton Towersey, Thadeu Matos, Mariana Gallindo, Camilla Carmargo, Fabricio Negri, Lucas Drummond, Camila Braunna, Fabiana Tolentino, Rooney Tuareg, Juliana Lago, Tato Maiuolo, Giselle Lima, Conrado Helt, Marcelo Ferrari, Bruno Kimura, Julia Gomes e Thaynara Bergamim. 

Diego Luri was graduated as journalist  in 2009 and studied at CAL- Casa das Artes de Laranjeiras- one of the most famous acting schools in Brazil.  Luri booked his first professional acting job in 2010 for the short movie TRACES  by Fabíola Amaral. After this, he played the role of Cogsworth in a Brazilian adaptation of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST by Celio Franco. For his performance, Diego Luri was nominated for the Rio de Janeiro City Festival Awards as Best Featured Actor in a Play. Luri also played a lot of roles from well-known musicals in a tribute named ON BROADWAY, directed by Paulo Afonso de Lima and Patrícia Evans at Teatro Ipanema. Besides, by the same director, he played roles in GOLDEN COPA, a musical about the famous Brazilian beach. Since 2011, Diego Luri has played the role of Narrator in the show LITTLE PIGS- THE MUSICALDiego Luri also played as stand up comedian with the actors from Total Comedy. For television, he recorded a version of YMCA (song) to a Brazilian telenovela called MORDE E ASSOPRA (Tv Globo). He also hosts a television talk show called VIDA E MISSÃO, produced by TV Metodista and broadcasted by CNT on Saturdays at 12h30.  

Shrek is a musical with music by Jeanine Tesori" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeanine_Tesori">Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Lindsay-Abaire">David Lindsay-David Lindsay-Abaire" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Lindsay-Abaire">Abaire. It is based on the 2001 DreamWorks film and William Steig" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Steig">William Steig's 1990 book. . After a tryout in Seattle, the original Broadway production opened in December 2008, and closed after a run of over 12 months in January 2010. It was followed by a tour of the United States which opened in 2010, and a re-vamped West End production from June 2011. Since its debut, the musical's rights have been available for independent overseas theatres, who have chosen to stage their own versions of the show, starting with   productions in Israel, Italy, Poland, France, Holand, Philippines and now in Brazil. 

SHREK is produced in Brazil by Kabuki Produções and XYZ LIVE.
